Personal Coaching
The field of personal and professional coaching has grow significantly over the past few years. "Coaching", which differs from "counseling", usually involves working in a partnership between coach and client to provide structure, guidance, and support for accomplishing a goal(s) or task(s).
"Coaching" is not "counseling" and thus, "coaching" should not explore or process issues related to past physical, emotional, or psychological trauma--- UNLESS it is done with a licensed and qualified mental health clinician.
What coaching does:
- Takes a complete look at your current lifestyle and situation, especially your assumptions and perceptions about your work, yourself, and others
- Sets relevant and realistic goals for yourself, based on your own nature and needs
- Takes relevant and realistic actions toward reaching your goals
- Learns by continuing to reflect on your actions and sharing feedback with others along the way.
- Increases the quality of your personal and professional relationships.
- Aligns your life and work with what you value most.
- Moves toward a life that supports wellness.
- Taps into your skills and strengths when you need them most.
- Acknowledges and prioritize what is most important to you, your family and/or your organization.
Coaching can be especially useful to help individuals address complex problems and/or attain significant goals and do so in a highly individualized fashion.
However, "coaching" is not "counseling".
