In other words, working on "self" is for "individual counseling"; working on relationships with others could call for either Marriage or Family Therapy.

Marriage and family Therapy is short-term therapy: 12 sessions on average. Treatment provided by marriage and family therapy could initially be one-on-one and then progress to sessions with others involved in the relationship.
